Chevy Chase has postponed any service/program that is not food related. We have extended our soup kitchen hours to 11:30 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday.
We are happy to provide lunches to kids who live away from town if you can deliver for them. Just call with a list of their names, grades and school district and we will provide a box of school lunches for you to deliver.
Please read the new policy being implemented for emergency food box distribution:
Any future food box requests MUST go through ICCAP.
ICCAP, Chevy Chase Community Center, United Way, and Salvation Army have agreed to centralize screening for all food boxes.
Therefore, beginning immediately, all requests for food boxes must go to ICCAP before any food will be distributed. Any Indiana County resident may request food by calling:
724-463-7440, Monday- Friday, between 7 AM and 4PM.
Transportation of food to all areas of the county is still possible, and you will still be able to pick up your box at the Chevy Chase Center if you live on this side of town.
Unfortunately, this came about because a few people took advantage of the emergency to get as much as they could from as many people as possible, all at once– not over time, as needed.
This is going to be a long-term emergency, and we expect many, many more people to need help during this time. We want to help everyone who genuinely needs help. We just ask that your requests are made when you have an urgent need for food.
